Dolly Dawes, Windsor, Berkshire County MA. Sampler

Dolly Dawes, Windsor, Berkshire County MA. Sampler

Vibrant New England sampler worked by Dolly Dawes in 1819. Dolly was born in July 1806 in
Windsor, east of the NY border.

The sampler features navy blue highlights, a fully formed basket with folky birds in the background
and green surrounding done in queen stitch.

A deep navy sawtooth border on all four sides frames the piece. It is silk on linen in excellent
condition, in a period figured maple frame. Professionally conserved.

“The soften’d heart the soul refin’d Superior happiness”
