This stoneware crock was made by John Remmey III’s factory in New York City; it is marked on one side “J. REMMEY / MANHATTAN-WELLS / NEW-YORK,” while the other side is decorated with an inscribed flower and highlighted with cobalt slip.

Item Condition: Good condition, small crack repaired at the base; the jar does sag, which is a result of how it was fired in the kiln; early stoneware often has imperfections because of the kilns used in America during this period.
