Stoneware Churn Stamped “J A & C W UNDERWOOD / FORT EDWARD, N.Y.”

This three-gallon stoneware churn was made at the factory of J A & C W Underwood in Fort Edward, New York; it is decorated in cobalt with a pheasant perched on a tree stump. A similar pheasant was also used as decoration at the Norton Pottery in Bennington, Vermont.
