SOLON FRANCIS MONTECELLO BADGER (American, 1873-1919) PORTRAIT OF THE SCHOONER “DAISY FARLIN”. The ship portrait shows the three-mast green hull schooner sailing right to left in full sail in choppy seas sailing in front of a distant sandy bluff with lighthouse and buildings believed to be Headland Light, Cape Cod and Signal Station. There are four crewmen on deck and the name is emblazoned on side of the bow. Off the back mast flies the ship pennant along with the company flag off middle mast. A blue chevron flies off the first and the United States flag flies off back. A blue, white tip ocean under nice blue sky with pink highlighted clouds. Signed lower left “S F M Badger”. The reverse of canvas is signed “S F M Badger, Charlestown, MA” and dated “1912”. The painting is mounted within its original frame.
