Pair of large over/under flintlock two-barrel pistols which use the firing system of Peter Meesen of Utrecht, The Netherlands who worked circa 1660. The guns MAY date from that time or be of slightly later manufacture. They are signed by the maker in Arabic script. The guns are designed with a rare single lock and have a sliding pan action which allows access to the bottom barrel. The guns are silver-mounted and have profuse silver wire inlays. The side plates and thumb pieces are engraved with stands of arms.
