Oval Top Tavern Table, New England, Red Wash

Oval Top Tavern Table, New England, Red Wash

Although rarely encountered, the use of ash legs is sometimes found on Boston highboys. The Oval top is raised on double-splayed block and ring-turned reverse-tapered legs resting on button feet; joined by plain apron and box stretcher.  The table features a very nice surface which may have originally been grained with a dark fugitive pigment.

Item Date: Circa 1730 - 1750

Measurement: Height: 24.5"; Top: 25 x 19"
