A rare marked specimen, Metropolitan Arms Co. New York
A total quantity of about 6,000 of the 1851 pattern were manufactured from 1864-1866. They were made with and without markings, and with or without cylinder scenes. The finish of nickel indicates naval use. Based on surviving specimens, about half of the guns were marked and are more desirable to collectors.
