With Retailer’s Stamp “C. Curry San Franco CALa”. Gold Rush Era Pistol with Western Markings
The pistol described herein is a splendid, rare example remaining in fine original condition; unquestionably an outstanding and important deluxe Henry Deringer percussion pistol. ovoid shape barrel is marked on the flat… “N. CURRY & BRO / SAN FRANCO CALA / AGENTS”. The top of breech plug, and lock-plate is marked “DERINGER / PHILADELA” The left top flat of breech plug is complete with Deringer’s “P” proof. Breech plug is inlaid with two dovetailed wide silver bands.
The barrel is mounted in a fine one piece walnut stock with checkered wrist and butt and has engraved silver furniture; silver butt-plate. The toe of engraved silver trigger guard is of the long tang type; forend with analogous engraved pineapple design. Mounted within the wrist is a fine engraved silver shield shaped thumb-plate. The fancy silver barrel key escutcheon is nicely engraved.

Item Condition: Fine, original, likely never fired; mechanics are smooth, and crisp; barrel retains nearly all brown and striping. The breech, tang, hammer, and lock are dark gray. The stock is sound and retains virtually all its original piano type varnish.
