Gameboard, Twelve Men’s Morris

Gameboard, Twelve Men’s Morris

Twelve Men’s Morris, a board of 24 nodes with each player having twelve pieces is an ancient strategic game – its roots in Nine Men’s Morris, which was popular in Medieval Europe and known since the 7th century. The game was introduced in New England by the first settlers of the 17th century.

As previously stated, the game has 24 nodes on a board with diagonal lines, each player starts with twelve pieces with a goal of creating mills (three pieces in a row) while removing opponent’s pieces.

Twelve Men’s Morris is a variation of the more commonly known Nine Men’s Morris, the board is altered with the addition of diagonal lines connecting the corners of the concentric squares. The game is played on a board of 24 nodes with each player having twelve pieces.
