Flintlock Musket with Bayonet, Lockplate Marked W & G Chance

Original .75-caliber flintlock; full Walnut Stock; silver thumbpiece, brass nose cap, rammer pipes, and triggerguard with long tang. The functional lock is tight, and smooth. The 42″ barrel is dated 1829 with an eagle over “P” proof.

Chance (William) was a Merchant in Birmingham (1777-1780).  He and his son (William 2) were Merchants to the American fur trade in the early 19th century.

Item Condition: The barrel is plum brown with trivial pitting. Displays well.
