English Delftware SACK Bottle Dated 1647 - Antique Associated At West Townsend

English Delftware SACK Bottle Dated 1647

English Delftware SACK Bottle Dated 1647

This is a sensational bottle, larger than the usual SACK bottles and of great form. This rare English Delft white wine bottle, dated 1647 in blue is of globular form with molded rim, the applied scroll handle with pointed terminal, inscribed and dated “SACK 1647” within a dashed looped border. It is unusual with this undulating line with cross hatches centering the usual SACK/1647 decoration.

Item Date: 1647

Measurement: 7.25" high

Material: delftware tin glazed ceramic

Item Condition: This larger than usual bottle has a restored handle. The front of the bottle has been sprayed which fluoresces under black light. This likely masks trivial imperfections; however, the decoration is consistent with other period SACK bottles.

Provenance: Partial Provenance: The bottle has a distinguished history having been in the collections of several prominent delftware collectors including Louis Lipski. Sold at Northeast Auction, Manchester, NH August 5, 2007 Ex Collection of Donna Simon; Ex Collection of Louis Lipski; Ex Collection of Miss S. Minet; Ex Collection of Sir John Evans and H.
