E. Herbert English Sealed Bottle, Transitional Onion to Mallet, Seal of E. Herbert

Fabulous half-size English free blown black glass (mid olive green) mallet with seal to shoulder displaying name and date (together with pelleted border and suggested oak leaves either side of the ‘E’). Very deep hummock kickup with rough sand pontil. Rounded base edges; tapering sides, and rounded sloping shoulders into wide-based long tapering neck; saturn disc string-rim below everted snapped-off lip. Elegant engraving typical of a master. The Hebert’s were a prominent Northampton family.
