Cased Old Model 1-1/2 Smith & Wesson, ENGRAVED, GOLD BORDERS

The engraved model is among the rarest, they are quite scarce. There are only a handful featuring the scrollwork of master engraver Louis Daniel Nimschke (1832-1904) with gold borders and rosewood grips extant. This is one of the finest known engraved guns of its type. The engraving motifs are pictured on page 18 of L.D. Nimschke, Firearms Engraver by R. L. Wilson. The period M. W. Robinson rosewood deluxe model case is lined in red wine velvet [typical trivial wear to high spots] and contains a case key, cleaning rod; the cartridge block holds 40-rounds. Matching Assembly number on grip frame, cylinder, and barrel.

Item Date: Made from 1865 to 1868
