The bird appears to be Cape Cod, similar in body/head shape to Monomoy traditions. The decoy is carved from a single piece of wood with attached root head. The bottom displays strong remnants of a brand, ‘Bristol __’ which was under a [now missing] lead ballast weight. The brand appears to be that of the Bristol Gun Club; likely the Bristol (Connecticut) hunting and fishing club which was founded in 1923 and is still in operation. The bird is of wonderful form.
