An Outstanding Eighteenth Century New England Cupboard, Original Surface, Likely Connecticut

A robust crown molding is featured above the Palladian arched opening that centers a pair of butterfly [porringer] shaped shelves. The arched opening and front edge of the top sections deck are molded. The single raised panel door is hung from “H” hinges. The cupboard is raised on bracket feet resting on full pads. The highly oxidized surface [first and only] displays very thin red pigment in overall dry patina…gorgeous!

Measurement: Height: 72"; width: 34.75"; depth: 18"

Material: White pine; traces of original red paint; wrought iron “H” hinges.

Item Condition: Excellent, right-rear-foot is pieced; there are a few trivial [small] mends to back edge that are probably 100-years old and moot. The case was divided horizontally early in its working life…displays beautifully.
