Obverse – crossed quills and open book variety. Says “The Gift of Franklin”. Reverse – Says “Adjudged by the School Committee as a Reward of Merit to” – then engraved “To Alexan Gifford”. Ex John Ford. Ex New Netherlands Coin Company with their holder. Circa 1793 to 1830. 35mm, nearly mint state, holed for suspension. Name and date published chronologically within document titled FRANKLIN MEDAL SCHOLARS published by the City of Boston, 1861.
