Original Flintlock Configuration, 1 3/8-inch Bore. Date/Period: 1780-1820
The two-stage pinned brass barrel, octagonal to round, continuing to the flared cannon muzzle with raised ring moldings, displays no proofs or other marks. The barrel tang displays a smooth plumb brown color. The lock is engraved MOORE under the pan. Both Stockel and Blackmore publish pages of gunmakers named Moore.
All lightly engraved iron furniture; buttplate and trigger guard with long tang and pineapple finial are engraved as is the rear entry pipe; lockplate screw is engraved and set within escutcheon. The button ramrod appears to be original. The full walnut stock in smooth dark surface features a carved/raised cheekpiece and checkered wrist.
