Hand Painted Charger, France
Outstanding, great subject… American Indian in a tropical forest; likely painted for a New Orleans client; painted on French made and marked porcelain by A. Poisson. (Fine original condition, great color) Pottery was first produced in Choisy-le-Roi in 1804. By 1836, Louis Boulenger 0was managing thee factory; he was succeeded by his son Hippolyte Boulenger in 1863. This wonderful majolica piece is stamped ‘Choisy le Roi’ with the letters HB (presumably for Hippolyte Boulenger.) Rarity, subject matter, quality.
