Full walnut stock featuring well defined comb and appropriately sized wrist; carved beavertail plateau centering barrel tang. Brass furniture including trigger guard with long rear tang and sling swivel, three-barrel bands, the center band held by spring is flanked with friction-held bands… brass sideplate and thumbpiece. The original flintlock is tight and smooth.
A closely related elongated upper barrel band held by rear side spring and the trigger guard’s hazelnut front terminal; the “S-type” sideplate, and oval escutcheon are the same as a Dutch musket/carbine published on page 177 of battle Weapons of the American Revolution by George C. Neumann. Also, the typical thin brass buttplate having two large projecting screws at the back and flush screwheads securing the three-stepped tang with small circular finial.
