A lovely early squat bulbous buff color bottle with handle featuring three applied circular heraldic medallions displaying an ornate leaf and sprig pattern. Flat glazed base; ovate bulbous body with sloping shoulders. Short tapering neck with strengthening neck-ring below, tapering upwards to a lightly cordoned lip. Small rounded handle applied to the neck and shoulder. An interesting, and very early stoneware item.
Item Date: Circa 1590-1600
Measurement: Height: 6"
Material: Stoneware, salt glaze
Item Condition: Good, three fine hairlines in a “Y” pattern across rear shoulder by the lower aspect of the handle and another fine hairline at the top of handle. All are tight and stable. The hairlines are trivial and do not compromise the aesthetic. It is otherwise in excellent condition.
