A rare fine and early thirty years war period German/Dutch military wheellock pistol. .58-caliber octagonal, smoothbore barrel displaying smooth age-patina and sharp contours with some light scattered discoloration as depicted. Dutch type wheellock action with sliding pan-cover, an exposed wheel, and its bottom-mounted wheel-bridle. Inside the lock it is marked “E V” underneath the tight and strong main spring. [Heer Der Neue Stockel, Journal Verlag does list a “E V” on page 354, volume 1]. The lock with matching smooth surfaces, and strong springs is tight and smooth. Full iron mounts; screw-fastened trigger-guard with a pointed finial, a single sheet-steel ramrod pipe; ramrod features a bone fore-end. Molded and finely carved full stock with sharp contours; sculpted and flared butt retaining original iron butt-cap.
