Sailing ships often had “boys” on their official crew lists known as Cabin Boys, Midshipman, Powder Monkeys, and/or Ship Boys. Perhaps this is an officer’s son. Nonetheless, a handsome picture of an attractive lad positioned before a ship flying her American colors.
