Late 18th Or Early 19th Century Stoneware Jug Probably Made In Manhattan

This unmarked stoneware jug is ornamented with impressed “Clamshell” decoration and drape-and-tassel motifs, which are highlighted with cobalt slip. David Morgan is known to have applied a similar style of decoration on signed stoneware that he produced in Manhattan, otherwise made by another Manhattan or Hudson River region potter.
