Transitional Shaft and Globe to Onion Sealed Bottle of the Horn Family - Antique Associated At West Townsend

Transitional Shaft and Globe to Onion Sealed Bottle of the Horn Family

Transitional Shaft and Globe to Onion Sealed Bottle of the Horn Family

The arms on the seal are of the Horn family of Horn and Westhall, Aberdeenshire, Scotland. The seal shows a horn/bugle near the top and the name Westhall at the bottom. The Horn motto is at the very top of the seal: Monitus Munitus. The owner of this bottle was probably John Horn, who married in 1695, which is about the date of this bottle. See David Burton’s book: English Sealed Bottles and the families who owned them; pages 1328-1329 for information, an overview; photographs including detail of the seal.
