Pair of all steel pocket derringers, by M. & J. Pattison, Dublin. The guns are .36 caliber percussion with 1 5/8″ round screw barrels. The butts have socket wrenches designed into them for removal of each other’s barrels. The frames and hammers are nicely engraved. The guns were finished in blue which is now mostly faded dull but with quite a bit of coverage.
Mark and John Pattison are listed as working together in Dublin in the year 1836 only, which allows us to date the guns perfectly. The initials “NL” in fancy script appear on the backstraps, likely from an owner.
