Likely Boston
An embroidery worked on painted silk depicting six mourners at the tomb within a waterfront landscape. At the foot of the mountains are townscapes. The faces and background were likely painted by a professional artist, the needlework by an unknown schoolgirl.
The prominent needlework scholars [Stephen and Carol Huber] sold this piece 20+ years ago; they recollect that the Kingsbury family was from Woburn, Massachusetts.
